For complicated rope work in caves, we believe the Frog System will make you the most efficient. Our coaches can help you optimize your gear and help you to try different options.
A hard shell climbing or caving helmet.
A proper caving harness, closed with a half-round / D is always best.
Bobbins (Stop, Simple, Acles, etc) or a U-Frame or J-Frame Rack. If you have a bobbin, you should have a brake carabiner (carabiner, freino, handy) You can run the Gauntlet with other descenders, but we believe they are much less efficient.
Either tied out of dynamic rope or commercially manufactured from dynamic materials. No webbing or cord cowstails are allowed.
A Croll L or S will work great on the size ropes we use.
The opposite hand from your brake hand.
A carabiner on the end makes it detachable.
This is super handy for the guided rappel and for passing knots. Most folks rack it with an additional oval carabiner.
Always wear gloves on a moving rope. Leather gloves are prefered.
This is a great way to get yourself out of problems.
